Typically, within about 60 days of your policy issuance, an inspector will visit your home to take photos of the exterior. For exterior inspections, you usually do not need to be home unless you live in a gated community or have restricted access to the back of your property. Some insurance companies will notify you in advance, though others may not. If an interior inspection is necessary, they will schedule an appointment with you — inspectors should never enter your home without one.
